NXNE 2011 – Day 1 – Moon King, Meligrove Band, O Voids, Parlovr & Red Mass
Moon King took the stage first at The Horseshoe Tavern. Dance Laury Dance was supposed to be the band playing for that time slot but for whatever reason they didn’t play. I was pissed off at first because I had come down to The Horseshoe to see Dance Laury Dance, only to find out that they were not playing AND because I could have stayed home for an extra hour, to watch the Stanley Cup Finals. However, I stayed and gave Moon King a chance. I actually really enjoyed them quite a bit and i’m glad I didn’t watch the hockey game because we all know how that turned out. Thank you Moon King for turning my frown upside down!
Lucas Silveira @ The Horseshoe
With the recent album release of “Mockingbird”, Silveira has been making rounds on a Canadian/American tour this 2011 spring/summer and his latest appearance was at Toronto’s Horseshoe.
The Boxer Rebellion @ The Horseshoe
This is the 2nd show that I have been to and as usual it was amazing. I was kinda disappointed that they were playing at the Horseshoe (they played at the Mod Club the first time) but it actually turned out pretty good. The band brought their own lighting system (thank you!!!). The Boxer Rebellion played material from their latest record “Union” and they also squeezed in couple new and old tunes. I can’t wait for another stellar release. You can check out last years photos here and you can check their music out here. I couldn’t get any drummer shots because the smoke from the fog machine was killing the image! Enjoy.
