NXNE 2011 – Day 3: The Most Serene Republic, Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag & Rusty
I started off my night with The Most Serene Republic at The Mod Club. As usual they were awesome. I really enjoy their shows and I have been a fan since the beginning. The last time I saw them, they opened for Metric back in 2005 with The Lovely Feathers. I have to say though, I really miss Adam Nimmo (he was their drummer till around 2006). I remember him playing at that Metric show and I was blown away by his drumming! He also brought a different element to the band. The drumming at the present, sounds more “safe” in my opinion. If you haven’t listened to them…well get on it! Their Myspace
NXNE 2011 – Day 2: Evening Hymns, Forest City Lovers, The Two Koreas, Little Girls & Men Without Hats
I was excited for the first couple of gigs because it was located at the Music Gallery (St. George the Martyr Church) and I had never been. I always like churches for sound because the reverb is pretty superb. You can’t have too little reverb ever! The first band was called The Evening Hymns. The band consists of Bonnetta with rotating members from: Ohbijou, The Wooden Sky, The Burning Hell, The D’Urbervilles and Forest City Lovers . NXNE 2011 – Day 1 – Moon King, Meligrove Band, O Voids, Parlovr & Red Mass
Moon King took the stage first at The Horseshoe Tavern. Dance Laury Dance was supposed to be the band playing for that time slot but for whatever reason they didn’t play. I was pissed off at first because I had come down to The Horseshoe to see Dance Laury Dance, only to find out that they were not playing AND because I could have stayed home for an extra hour, to watch the Stanley Cup Finals. However, I stayed and gave Moon King a chance. I actually really enjoyed them quite a bit and i’m glad I didn’t watch the hockey game because we all know how that turned out. Thank you Moon King for turning my frown upside down!
